PAINTING ON DEWEY STREET
3. I PAINT BECUASE...
I paint as a resistance to the status-quo disregard that we have towards our built environment
I paint to challenge the notion that things are the way they are and that that is final
I paint because I like to give people the opportunity to let others paint
I paint to highlight how we have ignored the spaces around us
I paint because I like to show people they can change things
I paint because I love getting paint on my shirt, and shorts
I paint because I want to show myself I can work hard
I paint as resistance to “fine,” “okay,” “good enough”
I paint because I like being exhausted after a project
I paint because there’s not much else to do now
I paint because I like having paint on my hands
I paint to challenge people’s notions of agency
I paint because I like making concrete change
I paint to make others feel like they matter
I paint because I like to organize people
I paint to make other people feel happy
I paint because I like thinking about art
I paint because I like the smell of paint
I paint because I like washing brushes
I paint because I like to change things
I paint because I like leaving a legacy
I paint because I like questioning art
I paint because I love bright colors
I paint as resistance to blandness
I paint because I like to fantasize
I paint to bring people together
I paint because I like to notice
I paint because I like to paint
I paint as resistance to grey
I paint because I want to
I paint because it’s fun
I paint to get exercise
I paint because I can
I paint to work hard
I paint to socialize
I paint to paint
